“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.” – Maya Angelou
Have you seen the video of the the judge & defendant ?( Watch Video Here )The defendant was being charged for theft , burglary, & other misdemeanors. The judge, watching on a split screen from the court room noticed that the defendant was familiar. The judge and defendant went to the same middle school, even shared mutual friends and played sports together. The judge expressed how she always wondered what happened to him and the he was the nicest, brightest kid she knew.
But what happened ???????????
Although they had the same “beginnings” , obviously from the same type of neighborhood or similar experiences and circumstances… one became a judge and the other a criminal. It is unfortunate that the man became a criminal but not exactly sad. Who knows, maybe he gave up on his dreams or became content with his lifestyle or were being influenced by people that were long gone from their path?
God gave us all equal opportunity to fulfill our destiny. Not one of us is greater than the other in God’s eyes. There are plenty of people that have been dealt devastating circumstances that they overcame. Yes, I know that everyone is different and cope with things differently, but it’s not about coping, it’s about coming to terms with what could feel like a barrier to your progression in life. We were put on this earth to continuously grow. We are supposed to be becoming the best version of ourselves.
